A Cinderella Story (2004)

Though the DVD begins with some terrible previews, one for One Tree Hill (“the only place you can see Chad Michael Murray every week”) the movie it’s self is quirky, funny, and good fun.

A retelling of the traditional Cinderella story has our Cinderella living in the valley with her outrageously awful stepmother and stepsisters.

Trying desperately to get into Princeton a year early to escape her “family” Sam meets a guy from her 3000+ school in a Princeton chat room.

She and “Nomad” quickly form an attachment, though neither knows who the other really is.

Though I firmly do not advocate meeting people online then agreeing to meet them at a dance (or anywhere), this story is cute, funny, and a nice twist on a classic.

Cinderella loses her mobile, rather than her shoe; there is no magic to her story. There are good friends, strength of character, and finding the gumption to stand up for yourself.

Also, Chad Michael Murray is really lovely on the eyes.
