I Want My Hat Back – Jon Klassen (2011)

I Want My Hat Back has it all; an endearing, if not slightly dim, bear; a troublesome rabbit; a helpful deer; and some rather humorous fibbing.

I find this bear possibly the most charming and rather dramatic of bears. Bear has misplaced his hat, and he would very much like it back.

I’m really not sure what to say that won’t ruin the end, and this is a clever and cheeky end.

Though be warned, if you haven’t had a conversation about what happened to the goldfish, or to great-grandma Gertrude, you might have a lot of explaining to do.
