The Vampire Diaries (September 10 & 17, 2009)

Elena Gilbert and her brother Jeremy are adjusting to life with their young aunt Jenna in the wake of their parents death.

The first day of school comes with awkward moments of readjustment for Elena as she tries to deal with friends and school, when suddenly there is a new stranger at school.

Stefan Salvatore is mysterious, attractive, and continues to turn up wherever Elena is.

Matt, Elena’s ex-boyfriend, is jealous at Stefan and Elena’s new-found closeness. Matt is also suspicious of Stefan, particularly when his sister Vicki is attacked by an animal in the woods and Matt sees Stefan fleeing the scene.

The animal attack is one of many that have happened in the past few days,  and Stefan is revealed to be a vampire, but so is his brother Damon.

The two, rivals, haven’t seen each other in 15 years, but have both returned to Mystic Falls, and to Elena, who is the spitting image of Katherine, the long-lost love of the Salvatore brothers.
